For over a decade, Dr Maris Catania and Karim Chikh have worked side by side, combining expertise in responsible gambling and data science.
Together, they’ve delivered innovative solutions that tackle complex compliance and player safety challenges — from building behavioral detection systems to applying AI, machine learning, analytics and dashboards in highly regulated environments.
With ReMind, they bring this collaboration to one of the gambling industry’s toughest pain points: making RG and affordability interactions both scalable and player-friendly.

With over 15 years of experience in responsible gambling operations, psychology, and compliance, Dr Catania is a leading expert in player protection. Her career spans from RG agent to Director of Responsible Gambling and consultant, giving her a unique blend of operational, leadership, and research expertise.
Dr Catania earned her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Mark Griffiths, focusing on the early detection of online problem gambling, responsible gaming tools, and consumer protection. She has published numerous papers in the field and received multiple industry awards for her contributions.
During her career, she led TOP Tier companies’ responsible gambling strategy, spearheading several research projects and building collaborations with universities and treatment centers. She initiated the Player Safety – Early Detection System (PS-EDS) at FDJ United, which won EGR Innovation of the Year 2014 and remains a benchmark in the industry. She has also been recognized with the Gambling Compliance Award for Most Significant Contribution to Responsible Gambling Research three years in a row.

With over 15 years of experience in data science and analytics, Karim Chikh brings deep technical expertise in building scalable, compliance-focused data solutions. His work has spanned fraud prevention, player risk monitoring, customer behavior analysis, and end-to-end data product delivery.
Mr Chikh has led teams of data scientists and analysts, designing and deploying systems that have saved companies millions while enhancing compliance and customer protection. He has contributed to peer-reviewed research in healthcare and, in collaboration with Dr Catania, in the iGaming industry.
As co-founder and CEO of ReMind, Mr Chikh applies his expertise in AI, machine learning, and real-time data solutions to make responsible gambling interactions scalable, effective, and operator-friendly.
